In 2012 my wife started her journey as an independent hair stylist, leaving behind the commission employee life. Venturing out on her own meant that she would need to manage her own books. A few months before the move, we began researching software that she could use to manage her appointments, clients, transactions and expenses. While there were many products that met her needs, all of them had numerous features that would not be used by her new company of one. As a software engineer by day, instead of over-paying for software that was too feature rich, I decided to take on the task of creating software for her.
The first version of MOE, then dubbed "Salon Suite", was a simple Microsoft Windows application developed in the months leading up to her big move and completed with only a few days to spare. While "Salon Suite" met her needs, I was never satisfied with the look and feel, so I started working on "Salon Suite v2.0" almost immediately after the first version was completed. Version two was used for many years until one day on vacation, she asked "It would be nice if I could access my data from anywhere, on any device. Could you do something like that?".
That simple question lead to the development of MOE, a simple to use, web based business management application.
